What is Neroli Oil?

Neroli oil, derived from the delicate blossoms of the bitter orange tree, boasts a rich history dating back centuries. Named after the Italian princess, Anne-Marie de la Tremoille, Countess of Nerola, who popularized its use in the 17th century, Neroli oil has since captivated the senses and allured the hearts of many. The history of neroli oil traces back to ancient Egypt, where it was cherished for its healing properties and aromatic allure. Later, it found its way into the courts of Europe, where it became a symbol of luxury and elegance.

OIL

Neroli oil is extracted through a meticulous process known as steam distillation. The delicate blossoms are carefully harvested by hand and subjected to gentle steam, yielding a precious aromatic oil.

Rich in compounds such as linalool, limonene, and nerolidol, neroli oil boasts antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Its floral scent uplifts the mood and calms the senses.

USES

Skin Care Products: Neroli oil finds application in the formulation of skin care products, particularly those designed for anti-acne treatment. Its efficacy lies in its ability to eliminate acne-causing bacteria, as well as to alleviate pimples, blackheads, and blemishes, resulting in a clearer and more radiant complexion. Furthermore, it contributes to the production of anti-scar creams and skin lightening gels. Its astringent properties and abundance of antioxidants are harnessed in the creation of anti-aging creams and treatments.

Hair Care Products: Neroli Essential oil has been a staple in hair care regimens for generations. It is commonly incorporated into hair oils and shampoos to address dandruff issues and alleviate scalp itchiness. Renowned in the cosmetic industry, neroli oil not only fortifies hair but also combats lice infestations and soothes flaky scalps.

Infection Treatment: Neroli oil serves as a key ingredient in the production of antiseptic creams and gels formulated to combat infections and allergies, particularly those affecting dry skin. Its healing properties extend to wound care, where it aids in the regeneration of skin tissues, diminishes scars, and acts as a soothing agent in first aid ointments. Additionally, it possesses properties that alleviate insect bites and minimize itching sensations.

The scent is of a bitter-sweet nature, as one might expect from its origins, and is not always liked in the concentrated form of the essential oil. However, once it has been suitably diluted as a massage oil, bath oil or in skin creams, etc., it is one of the most hauntingly beautiful of all those used in aromatherapy. It is widely used in commercial perfumery, and is another of the ingredients of true eau de cologne. Neroli is particularly valuable in skin care for it has the special property of stimulating the growth of healthy new cells, and has therefore certain rejuvenating effects. It can be used for all skin types, but is perhaps most useful for dry or sensitive skins. The delicate perfume makes it highly acceptable in all skin and toilet preparations.

Only use therapeutic grade essential oils for therapeutic results! Neroli essential oil is Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) for internal consumption by the FDA. Although it may be used as a dietary supplement, it is advised not to use it in this manner for children under 6 years of age.
